David and Kathy both love to cook, and they both love hot and spicy foods. Back in 1994, David found he was getting blank stares from Kathy when he talked about dry rubs for barbecue—something he had grown up knowing about in his native Texas. "I thought everyone knew about dry rub seasonings for barbecue!" he declared.

Dry rub recipes that they found depended heavily on salt and sometimes sugar (that could burn on the foods.) So, they began to create their own recipes, reducing the salt and adding chile pepper for excitement and flavor. They found after the first few trials that they were onto something really good. But you still needed a fire hose—not for the heat (for which water doesn’t help anyway,) but for the thirst created by the salt! So down came the salt and up went the chiles.

David and Kathy worked hard on the various blends that would complement different types of foods, and that would also showcase the true flavors of the various chile peppers they were featuring. These were tested on friends, and received such a great response that David and Kathy decided they had something that others would want too—and founded Salspray Company™ to make the Pepper Coast Products™.

Each of our rubs is a unique blend of herbs, spices and full-flavored chiles. A range of heat lets you discover the zesty new taste for meats, fish, chicken and vegetables.

These rubs are for foods that people eat—the heat from the chiles is used to enhance the taste, "not to make you cry!"

We now ship our blends of all-natural low sodium dry rub barbecue seasonings to individuals and stores around the world.

We send out a newsletter from time to time with recipes, helpful tips and information on other useful and tasty products we have come across.
